An Arvada resident has thrown his support behind Tim Reichert, who's seeking the Republican nomination in the race to represent Colorado's 7th Congressional district at the nation's capital.

Dave Brazzel, a parishioner at St. John of Arc Catholic Church in Arvada, said he chose to back Reichert because of his ideas to help middle class Coloradans.

"I am voting for Tim Rechert because this election isn't about Republican or Democrat, it's about fighting for the middle class," Brazzel said.

Reichert is one of three Republican candidates running in the upcoming primary election. According to his website, Reichert is a businessman and an economist with a "Middle Class Restoration Plan" with the goal to fix economic issues. He supports simplifying regulations for small businesses and reinstating fair trade laws to help those small businesses compete with larger corporations. Reichert also believes employees should be able to buy stock from their employing companies without being taxed. He also is determined to get the inflation issue in check.

The district Reichert is running in was redrawn following the 2020 census, Ballotpedia reported. Democrat Rep. Ed Perlmutter, the district's previous Congressman, has opted not to run again. Reichert will face Erik Aadland and Laurel Imer in the Republican primary election on June 28.

According to CPR News, the 7th district seat has traditionally been held by a Democrat, but because of how the district lines were drawn it's now turning out to be more competitive. CPR also branded Reichert as the candidate for the middle class, based on his endorsements from business owners because of his plans for the economy.
