With support from the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, UCHealth and Colorado College, USA Hockey announced today it will host the Athletix Under-17 Five Nations Tournament, Aug. 9-13, at Ed Robson Arena on the campus of Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo.
In addition to the U.S., the tournament will include teams from Czechia, Germany, Slovakia, and Switzerland.
"We're excited to work with Colorado College in hosting the Athletix U17 Five Nations Tournament," said Madison Brown, director of events for USA Hockey. "Their new venue is spectacular and it's great to be staging this tournament in our hometown of Olympic City USA. We're also appreciative of the support of the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation and UCHealth."
The event, which commenced in 2007 and is being staged for the 15th time in 2022, is being held in the U.S. for just the third time. The last time the U.S. served as host was in 2016 in Plano, Tex., while Ann Arbor, Mich., was the first U.S. host city in 2011.
"This is another fantastic opportunity to showcase Colorado College, Robson Arena and the City of Colorado Springs to the rest of the world," CC's Vice President and Director of Athletics Lesley Irvine said. "We are excited to host this City for Champions event along with USA Hockey and the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, and can't wait to see some of the world's best young hockey players on our campus."
The Under-17 Five Nations Tournament will feature two games each day, starting on Tuesday, Aug. 9, with Czechia facing Switzerland at 3 p.m. MT, followed by the U.S.-Germany match-up at 7 p.m. For the complete schedule, click here.
