The 2023 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships opened Thursday with six events at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The day started with the men’s heptathlon and the women’s pentathlon before concluding with both the men’s and women’s 5,000-meter races and distance medley relays. With three events completed, Colorado State is leading the way on the women’s side with 34 points, while Air Force is out in front on the men’s side with 22 points.
Colorado State’s Lexie Keller broke the MW championship record in the pentathlon with a first-place score of 4,306 points. Keller is the first Ram to win the pentathlon since 2007 and surpassed the previous record that was set in 2015.
